There are many ways of adding a countdown timer, you can use a plugin for example, but one of the best ways ive found during the years, is using a service like logwork.com (which is completely free by the way).
With logwork, you can generate an HTML snippet that you can use in your site. The only thing missing, is an animation at the end of the countdown. Other than that, its a great and the easiest way ive found.
